On February 15, 2024 (Thursday), officials from the Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU) – Calbayog City visited the 老澳门六合彩开奖记录 and benchmarked with the Communications Bureau, specifically for website management. NWSSU, one of the country鈥檚 universities ranked under Quacquarelli-Symonds, is also vying for a place in the Times Higher Education and WURI Rankings.

During the visit, Communications Bureau Director Philippe Jose S. Hernandez, Distribution Section Supervisor Mar Christian Darren C. Ramos, and Media Production Supervisor Marvin P. Rellamas provided an overview of the Bureau鈥檚 functions and how the office complements the work of academic and administrative units in sharing to the online audiences what UST does.

The benchmarking included a display of the various platforms that the Bureau manages as well as the different processes of content production that the Bureau undertakes.

The contingent from NWSSU by Drs. Riz Rupert Ortiz, Ramin Catamora, Myra Pilpa, and Ana Gretchen Tobe. The delegates included vice-presidents, directors, and academic unit heads.

On Feb. 25, 2023, UST, though the Communications Bureau’s Tiger Media Network, the official student-run broadcast arm of UST, bagged a total of six awards in the 83rd Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) College Media Conference, held at Sheraton Times Square in New York City, USA.

UST Tiger TV received five awards in the said conference.

The Facebook page UST Tiger TV was hailed as the “Best Social Media Account.” Four more recognitions came in the form of the Len Mallioux Management awards, which were conferred upon:

1) Charlene Beatrice Go (UST College of Fine Arts and Design – TMN)- Best Creatives Services Director, Television – College Division

2) Janis Andriella Santiago (UST Faculty of Arts and Letters – TMN)- Best Student Station Manager, Television – College Division

3) Asst. Prof. Faye Martel-Abugan, MA (Communications Bureau; TMN adviser)- Best Faculty Advisor, Television – College Division

4) Angelica Mendoza (UST College of Commerce and Business Administration) – Best Promotions Director – Television – College Division

The Len Mallioux Management award is bestowed by IBS, a network of academe-related media broadcasting organizations.

Meanwhile, Tiger Radio bagged the sixth award and was named the “Best Streaming/Online-Only Radio Station for schools with more than 10,000 students”.

The two-month-old Media and Public Affairs Office of Romblon State University conducted a virtual benchmarking activity with the 老澳门六合彩开奖记录 Communications Bureau on March 10, 2021 (Wednesday), as the former begins to fulfill its mandate of handling the public image of Romblon State University and its nine campuses.

During the virtual benchmarking activities, led by UST Communications Bureau Director fr. Christopher Jeffrey L. Aytona, O.P., the mandate, vision, mission, objectives, and structure of the Bureau were presented, along with the original content it produces. Also discussed during the said presentation were the services rendered by the Bureau and how it liaises with stakeholders.

Assistant Director for Broadcast Faye Martel-Abugan, MA spoke about the Bureau鈥檚 facilities, highlighting the industry-standard television studio, radio booth, and technical operations center, which are venues for student-generated content to be produced. Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism students use the said facilities for their laboratory courses.

Media Production Supervisor Marvin Rellamas, for his part, discussed the Bureau鈥檚 line-up of original content and walked the participants through the entire production process鈥攆rom pre- to post-production.

Meanwhile, Assistant Director for Online Philippe Jose S. Hernandez, MEng talked about the social media protocols adopted by the Bureau and how it renders services and advice to the constituent units of the University.

In attendance from Romblon State University were Ms. Rachel Llorca, Mr. Jerryjay Forna, Ms. Cha Ferranco, and Ms. Anna Gadon. They represented the Media and Public Affairs Office head Mr. JP Bayang, also an alumnus of UST.

Meanwhile, the Communications Bureau was also represented by Creatives Supervisor Rommel Rivera, Technical Supervisor Rodolfo Bondoc, Website Supervisor Mar Christian Darren Ramos, Office Secretary Rebecca Maya, and Technical Support Staff Mark Quinol.

Meanwhile, in the Video category, 鈥淟ife After UST鈥, which featured Thomasian alumni and professionals, was once again named the 鈥淏est Use of Graphics鈥. BA-Communications student Kathya Karmela de Leon headed the show.

Among 600 college radio stations across 43 countries, representing the Philippines, the UST Tiger Radio was among the top 10 college radio stations feted with Bret Michaels Spirit of College Radio Awards 2020, announced December 17, 2020 on its website.

The World College Radio Day team voted for the stations that embody the passion and mission of college radio. Likewise, the winners were selected 鈥渋n recognition of truly outstanding and spirited efforts by college radio鈥. 鈥楾he station where you hear the roar鈥 On October 2, 2020, in celebration of World College Radio Day, the UST Tiger Radio, discussed various topics that matter to the society.

The Tiger Jocks ran four episodes with the following topics discussed throughout the day: From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tiger Jock Nico (Anton John Supe) talked about the Frontliners and the sacrifices they made during the pandemic; he also cited different articles and videos paying tribute to the brave men and women at the forefront of the pandemic. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tiger Jock Nova (Alysia Petras) tackled the importance of suffrage and zeroed-down on the processes and guidelines of voters registration. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tiger Jock Abel (AJ Velasco) shed light on the role of the media in times of the pandemic. He also mentioned the issue of Misinformation/Fake News, and how it brewed a stigma. On the last show from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tiger Jock Jordyn (Naomi Tolentino) discussed the shift of physical learning to online learning.

A good portion of the show was interactive, as the listeners were given a chance to voice out their sentiments in online learning, and how it affected their mental health and also the quality of education as the academic institutions were adjusting to the new normal.

UST Tiger Radio is under the Communications Bureau, headed by its Director, Rev. fr. Christopher Jeffrey L. Aytona, O.P. The Tiger Radio is part of the Tiger Media Network, which is supervised by Asst. Prof. Faye M. Abugan, Assistant Director for Broadcast, and Mr. Daryl Querijero, Tiger Radio Station Manager.

The 老澳门六合彩开奖记录 website won the Bronze Award for Best International Website Page in the virtual 2020 Quacquarelli-Symonds APPLE Conference, marking the third time that the platform was recognized by QS.

Managed by the 鈥檚 Online Section, the website recently transitioned to a new design with added security and functionalities. It contains various information about the University, ranging from its policies and procedures, to its programs and undertakings. It is also in the process of developing the pages for the University鈥檚 varied advocacies and community development efforts.

The team responsible for the website is composed of Communications Bureau Director Rev. fr. Christopher Jeffrey L. Aytona, O.P., Assistant Director for Online Philippe Jose S. Hernandez, Website Supervisor Mar Christian Darren C. Ramos, Clerk Ruby A. Atienza, Writer Hans Lawrence V. Malgapu, and Graphic Designer Rommel G. Rivera.

UST was represented in QS APPLE Conference by QS/THE Rankings Deputy Director Nestor R. Ong, ASEAN Engr., QS/THE Rankings Office Clerk Vien Vic G. Flores, and International Relations and Programs Associate Director Karen S. Santiago, PhD.
